I won an 'bay auction a few weeks ago.. the description was a bit vague, but there were a few things I was interested in.. only one other person put in a bid, so I won the auction at just a few dollars over the opening bid

when the box arrived, it took me an hour just to unpack everything

Congratulations. I hope you have enough film. The cameras towards the right, are they Electros or something else.

OK, let's see what we got here...

On the left, I see a bunch of expired film. Some 110 cameras - I believe the yellow ones are weatherproof. Bunch of flash units - one big Vivitar, several of the Canonlite 300D flashes for a Canonet (worth money), and a Rollei flash that uses a proprietary battery.

Then, you got a Vivitar 35 EE or ES, above that is what looks like a Sears 35 RF (not a bad little camera). Bunch of point-n-shoots, not sure what they are.

I see a Canon or Bell&Howell Demi and a Dial (that weird thing in the middle) and a couple of Kodak folders for 620 roll film. The 620 spools are worth a couple bucks each.

Two Argus C3 'brick' Matchmatics and a couple of light meters - looks like a tiny Sekonic and I don't know what else.

On the right, from bottom to top, looks like a Minox GT or perhaps a Russion copy of same - followed by a Fed (5?) and Yashica GSN. Not sure what the one above that is, looks interesting. Above that, looks like a Minolta. Then over one row to the right, from top to bottom, you've got three Canonets and a three Minoltas which I don't recognize.

Nice haul! Looks like fun! How far off was I?

Best Regards,

Wow! What a great collection, especially the Yahiscas. Are they all supposedly in working condition?

That looks like an estate. You should at least send them a nice thank you card.

....
Either that or it's a divorce sale and he hasn't discovered they're missing yet. 🙂

WOW, Joe! You can open "Joe Friday's Camera Bazaar" with that collection! I agree with Bill..... I believe that's a Fed-5 I see on the right.

A really NICE haul and lots of RF's there. Should keep you occupied until this time next year! 😀

Oh, and you took the photo with a Nikon D70. Nice camera.

Bill, you're pretty quick for an old guy! LOL

yep, your evaluation was pretty much right on the money.. it's a Bell & Howell Demi, btw.. I don't even have a clue what it's about.. and there's something called an "Autoknips II" that I only have a vague idea what it does (apparently a timer?)

of the cameras that I looked over, nearly all of them seem to be in good working order.. the Fed 5 came with a nice Industar-61 lens, and both light meters (older Sekonic Auto-Lumi and GE PR-1 are both pretty accurate!

the Yashica GSN and MG-1 look pretty good, as well as all three Canonets.. I'll have to look the Hi-Matics over a little closer, but they seem good to go, too

and about half of them came with cases and owners manuals, which I didn't bother to include in the photo

I actually found the auction by looking for a Minolta Weathermat to use for fishing shots.. and considering I paid roughly $4 a piece, including shipping, I think I did ok

Good Lord, Brett!!! No GAS for you for awhile!!

And now you've got an LTM camera for that J-8 & J-3 you mentioned in the other thread!! 😀

Auto-knips is a self-timer. You screw it into the remote shutter release and wind it up and set it off. It presses the button for you when it comes to the end. I guess you can adjust it - I never had one, myself. The Demi is a half-frame camera; they were popular for about 3 years, when color film was really expensive, and everybody made a few models in 1/2 frame. The Olympus Pens were probably the best 1/2 frame cameras, but the Yashica Samerai (came later) was pretty slick too. With the increase in resolution from color film these days, 1/2 frame is not such a bad thing. You can get useable 8x10 blowups from a 1/2 frame.

I missed the MG-1. Cool, quite a haul!

Congrats, Brett! Instant collection, and you've got an FSU body for those lenses you've been collecting! You must have felt like a kid at Christmas time!

Are there Petris in the back right corner? In the center, next to the Argus, is what appears to be either a Ricohmatic or Zorki-10 fixed lens RF. The red & white fellow in the back row appears to be a Canon WP-1, which would make a great beach or boat camera since it's water resistant. If the Hi-Matics are working you'll get great results from them - those are sweet little cameras with excellent lenses. BTW, the Vivitar 35 ES is a clone of the highly regarded Minolta Hi-Matic 7sII. Definitely a keeper.

I hope all that stuff came in a big box, because you may need to sleep in it for a while once Mrs. Joe Friday sees what you brought home! 😉

Have fun!
