My 4th of July socially responsible picnic. Everyone in the household was invited (just me). There was great ribs on the grill, home made coleslaw and professionally prepared beans. No potential for COVID 19 spread here.

Yesterday Florida has 10,400 new Coronavirus cases. No clues where the infections came from. Cuba had 8 of which 7 were pre-symptomatic but found by contact tracing from the infecting person. Good for Cuba but unfortunate for me as part of Cuba's success comes from not allowing foreigners (like me) from entering the country. Normally my Cuban family celebrates major US holidays when I am there. I also celebrate major Cuban holidays. This year I am celebrating at home alone.

Can't show you pictures because I didn't take any. Just me and the wife and the dog. I spent the late morning/early afternoon with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Red Stripe while slowly cooking the ribs. I was a little lazy. Instead of using the big drum smoker I just used the Weber like yours, Bob. I didn't expect the ribs to turn out as well as they did.

That was just a photo setup as I had not yet lit the grill. In actual use, I have the coals set over to one side with a pan of water above them and the ribs set over to the other side so they are not over the direct heat. I do chicken the same way.

And that was my only photo of the day. I did shoot 4 frames to get the framing right as the camera was on a tripod using the self timer

The indirect method. Same here except I put the coals on each side (in a Weber thingy for that purpose--no idea what they call it). I timed the whole cooking process as requiring three bottles of beer.🙂
