Used X-E1 with electrical problems? HELP!

I have a hypothesis of what could be going on after hearing your suggestions and doing some debugging. I think that the camera actually is probably 100% fine, it was just my expectations. As I had mentioned, I am used to a Dual-Digic Canon that can write 40 .CR2's to buffer and still chug along happily.

Fuji-ism of functionality reduced while writing buffer to memory, especially RAW's:

• play button will not function
• thumbwheel zoom will not function
• turning off the camera will not turn off the display

While speed is always a nice thing, I know it's not fair to expect an SD card compact camera to preform like a CF card writing monster. I will observe if there are any unexpected odd things happening outside of the buffer writing, and report back to you guys!

Yes, I do use a mac, and I am aware of the hidden files. If this is what is actually causing the problem, I would be quite upset and flabbergasted. If there was a big omission on Fuji's part, then yes - I could see the problems it causes... but wow, that would be a huge mistake on Fuji's part!

Per your suggestion, I will try to always format after reading, and see if that changes anything. Thanks!

Now that I think about it... This is also a known possible cause for the lock up. I forgot all about it.. I now use the either of the following steps
- I don't always remember to do this
-- set rd only tab on sd card (prevents hidden files from being written)
-- xfr the files to the iMac
- or
-- xfr the files to the iMac (don't delete the files)
-- format the sd card on the camera

Btw a lot of advance operating systems write hidden files..especially if u delete the file. It never really deletes it, but put it in a hidden trash folder. If u ever use the sd card for anything other then read only, the os will write hidden files sometimes.

Linux does this as well as all unix like operating systems. Mac OS is based on a unix kernel..

Fuji is actually the only cameras that I have ever had that ever locked up trying to read the mac hidden files out of all the other cameras I have ever had. There was a long thread on this subject in rff when the first Fuji came out (x100) if I remember correctly. Their low level driver is not setup to ignore hidden files (one of the reasons I always have said they have no true platform os embeded sw developers).

On the adapter note, sorry I don't remember which one anymore.

If u shoot until the camera cache is full (fast burst or due to slow sd card), this can happen no matter what camera u use. The more expensive dslrs have big cache buffers and the write path was optimized to handle professional fps burst speed.

I use a 95mbs sd card on my camera and only when I am doing a lot of burst shooting do I ever c this issue.
