My usual RF kit consists of 28, 35, 50 and a 90. Now I guess this might sound daft but this is a lot of glass to carry about, certainly when travelling. I'm pondering on a 'light' setup for general travel using a 35 and maybe a 75. Does this make sense?

Any suggestions as I don't currently have a 75 and welcome comments from 75 or potential 75 users.

well I have an M4-P, it has framelines for the 28 and the 75 so that's what I carry when compactness is an issue.

I have the CV 75mm Heliar, it's a great lens, excellent build and sharp but with nice bokeh. You cannot beat the price of this lens, I reccomend it.

Ditto on the 35/75 combination. That's my minimalist lens combo for travel. I like the CV 75/2.5 a lot - IMHO it is an underrated portrait lens and also does very well as a walkaround, esp for candids and street shooting. It's tiresome to repeat it, but if I could only have two lenses I'd have these two focal lengths, no doubt.

The 35/75 combo is what I use on my MP. The Leica 75/2 Summicron is just brilliant - I think it's the best lens I've ever used for any camera in any focal length.

I've never been much satisfied with the 35's I have/had. My set consists of a 25/4, a 40/2, a 50/2 and an 85/2. I know, the 40 + 50 seem a bit of overkill but I like them both for the way they show the world and render the image.

Apart from the CV 75 and the Leica 75s (lots of cash) are there any others worth considering?

I don't think so, you would have to jump up to 85. The Nikon and Canon 85s are said to be very good and in the price range of the CV. A well adjusted Jupiter 9 (85/2) can be very good too. They tend to have focusing issues though so the well adjusted part is important. Zeiss is making a new 85, and did Rollie offer an 80 or 85 for their RF?

I have a j9 that focusses perfectly. My experience is, though, that the J9 really needs a big hood. I have nearly 5cm long black tube-like hood on my J9. Works perfectly though at wider aperatures there can be some vignetting. On my R-D1, however, this is not much trouble because of the crop factor of the sensor.
