Using a VF Diopter: How?

So I bought a +1 diopter viewfinder for my M4-2 and find the original disk is seemingly immovable. Reluctant as I am to manhandle the camera, I wonder how you go about this? I'm rather assuming the task is to remove the existing ring and replace it with the correction lens? Something mere mortals can manage without breaking things, or do I need to go to a Leica store?

You don't remove the existing ocular lens. You just screw the diopter lens onto the thread in addition to the original one.

Understandable given that on most cameras in my experience the diopter replaces the standard eyepiece, not added to it (e.g. Nikon SLRs)
