Hi,
Is it possible to use Carl Zeiss Tessar 50mm 2.8 from 1935 with Voigtlander Bessa R and focus accurately using bessa’s rangefinder?
So far I see it doesn’t match the distance on the lens focusing ring.
The rangefinder works perfectly with Color Skopar 35mm so I’m wondering is it just Tessar and will it work fine with another 50mm like Canon 50mm 1.8?

A photo of the lens would be helpful. As far as I know, a Tessar 2.8 was made for the Contax rangefinder. An LTM (Leica Mount) version might be an early conversion.
Thanks, here are the photos.
Does it mean that the Contax version converted to LTM will not work with Bessa?

Wow, is that lens really from 1935 and was it really "converted" with a proper focusing cam to M39? That lens normally comes in M42, or it might be using the Soviet M39 standard that it used for its own SLRs from the 1950s. I could be wrong.

Anyway it seems it will not work and this can be expected.
Can anyone recommend any 50mm with f range between 1.8 and 2.8 that will work with Bessa R for sure?

It is in an M39 Paxette mount lens (not compatible with L39 mount).
If you would like a really inexpensive but capable lens, I‘d get an Industar 61 LD. Rule of thumb is that there are no bad 50s.
