Using hood on Leica 2/28 summicron

Guys,

Call me a joker, call me a fool, but I really want my lenses to stay in tip top condition. Using the standard hood on the 2/28 Leica will damage the lens, eventhough only slightly, I must admit. The black will disappear where the hood is attached to the lens: only a bid, but hey..

What my question boils down to is: how is the summicron handling flare? I did not have any real problems till now.

Don't use them then. If you use them they won't stay tip top. They will wear out one day.

But you'll have a ton of pictures.

Are you taking the hood off when not using the lens, and putting it on again later? I'd suggest just leaving the hood on, and use the lens cap that comes for the hood to protect the lens when not in use. I have the same lens, and just leave the hood mounted all the time...

I have ultra swede covers with elastic bands to hold over the hood. Made them 20 years ago before there were covers.
