Hello,

I have some of the Pentax S-M-C lenses (M42, the type for full aperture TTL metering).

Can I use them on a Spotmatic SP and a Ricoh TLS401 without damaging camera and/or lens and does the aperture work correctly while the camera takes the picture ?

IIRC all manual focus Pentax K lenses are fully back- and forward compatible, issues did not begin until AF.

The OP has m42 lenses and bodies, not K mount.

@OP:
There will be no problem using the S-M-C Takumars on earlier Pentax or other Pentax/Praktica m42 mount cameras. You will need to do stop-down metering with any such metered bodies even if those bodies supported there own full aperture metering (few did). When Asahi/Pentax added the full aperture meter coupling they made sure the lenses and bodies were both compatible with the earlier versions.
