Real Men Shoot Film.
Well, film size matters to the extent that with roll film there are more than the one frame on the roll and developing for easy printing of one may make others more difficult, no?
I tend to shoot for the body, for the average. Only with a small percentage of frames do I seem to need to reason, think through the settings ... and even then the latitude of these modern film covers almost all contingencies
I own a couple bodies from each of my 35mm camera systems and for my Hasselblad, I have two backs. I just switch backs or bodies if need be.
I carry a bag with one 35mm body (usually one of my M6 bodies) and a couple lenses. This is for grab shots or fleeting things i see when out and about. For more thought-out work, I put together what I need for the day's shooting. The light is usually consistent here. If its a sunny day, it'll usually stay that way, if cloudy, it'll stay cloudy, but I'll generally carry both backs or two bodies just in case.
The thing is, even if you don't use the zone system, you'll have some improperly developed images if you shoot all light conditions on one roll anyway, so by that reasoning you should never shoot roll film. Well we aren't giving up roll film, so we choose: Do it right and carry two bodies or backs, or compromise and accept that saving some weight in the bag means more work in printing or photoshop editing later. You can't escape the work involved in doing it right; the choice is carry more gear and do the 'work' when you shoot, or carry less gear and do the 'work' after you shoot.
