USPS delivery time these days...

Go to your closest Postal office to the corporate office and see if they can track the package down for you

I had 2 day on a shutterfly 12 by 12 book I ordered on last friday... it even showed me a window of 3 days it could arrive and it didn't yesterday so either today or tomorrow

so yes USPS is slowing down quite a bit during this time of year

Alex,
I have no answers to your problem other than to talk to your postman. Tell the person who delivers mail to your business what is going on, and ask him (or her) to help you.

Take care,
Michael

Well, thanks for your contribution, just checked the status - says it left Richmond facility (which is close to Sunnyvale where it is addressed to), so it can be on its way...
Not sure whether it can be delivered today (Friday) though...
BTW, unfortunately I personally have no control over it - I'm in Israel and it is supposed to be forwarded to me from our CA office...
most certainly only after the holidays...another two weeks-long waiting until will hopefully will have it in my hands....0-)

A full week + 1 day over and nothing yet arrived (aka 6 business days) - myM6 shipped by the seller from NY to my corporate office in CA.
The USPS online status still remains as it was on the second day (left their NJ facility and Enroute). I'm about to start worring...
Entire next week our office in CA is closed for holidays, no one will be able to accept the package till 01/2/2007 which means it will either wait at the post office for at least one week or will be returned back to the shipper in NY.
A real headache....:-(

What can be done by USPS in such case ? Will they hold the package on their shelves for a week or slightly more or if cannot be delivered within few days (say, next week) the package will automatically be shipped back ?
I guess this is up to USPS policy (for insured and Delivery confirmation shipments)...

Now I realize we were indeed fools not shipping it by EMS or similar ...

Alex

Alex,

In a word, you can do nothing.

As I said earlier, Delivery Confirmation is NOT tracking in the sense of FEDEX/UPS/DHL tracking. It simply says some very rudimentary origin information, and frequently, after delivery, still does not reflect delivery. In short, Delivery Confirmation sucks as a tracking system.

The fact that you see no movement and no further updates is not a reason to worry. That happens all the time with Delivery Confirmation tracking.

Your insurance receipt, on the other hand, does have tracking. However, it is internal USPS tracking. You, as the customer, can't access it. It is for USPS purposes only.

When delivery attempt is made next week, a notice will be left at your CA office. I can't remember exactly, but it will be held at the local postal office for some time.

You might wonder how I know all this about USPS Delivery Confirmation ;) You might even wonder why I always ship by FEDEX now :D

good luck

I just received a my 35/2 Nikkor-O, :)) ) lens that was shipped from the seller on the 14th (last Wed), And I received it Today (Wednesday the 20th) It took 5 B-Days to arrive. USPS Priority w/Conformation)

I have a 24/2.8 Nikkor-N lens that was shipped from another seller on Last Tuesday the 16. If all holds true, I should receive on Tuesday Dec 26th :)( ) Will post again when it arrives.

And the last Nikkor lens I am waiting for is a nice 105/2.5 AI. It was shipped UPS Ground on the 19th (This last Tuesday). Takes 3-5 days with no holiday in the way! I won't see this until Dec 26-29 If the New Year does not interfere Again, Will post when IT arrives.

:D :D :D I just received the 105/2.5 Nikkor AI today. It was shipped on the 19th UPS Ground... 4 days from within the USA. (lower48)

:bang: :bang: STILL WAITING for the 24/2.8 Nikkor-N that was mailed on the 16th by USPS Priority mail from within the USA (lower48)
Maybe I'll get It on Sat. the 23rd. ??????

UPS GROUND WINS this season for FASTER Deliveries...at least for me. I have always perfered UPS over USPS anyway.

If you want it on time, next time try UPS, FEDEX, or DHL. USPS is not that reliable time wise. I use USPS Priority Mail all the time, but not during a major holiday. The other guys are experts at 1-2 day delivery timelines.

24/2.8 arived today -- 7days ??

Just got the 24/2.8 today, after a 7 day traval time from point A to B. (Ok for REGULAR USPS)

Just goes to show you, that the USPS (like the CPS) has a lousy priority delivery time for Bulk Packages. But OK for Leters. I guess.
