Does an IR Cut 486 filter have any effect (good or bad) on an R-D1?
Thanks,

The rd1 has a similar extended sensitivity to IR as the m8. You will notice a megenta cast to some fabrics (blacks). Using the cut filter will solve this. I use the cut filters on my lenses when shooting for color only. The extended sensitivity actually seems to improve shadow detail for B+W. The RD1 in camera B+W Jpg is something I like. It has a very filmy look to me at iso800 or 1600.

Hmm, I never noticed the magenta cast, now I'll be looking for it.
I also like the B&W from the R-D1. This is not in-camera (used Epson PhotoRAW), but it is at ISO 1600.

I have noticed a magenta cast, especially with artificial light indoors, but I haven't tried 486 filters on it. You may encounter the coloured vignetting with wideangles which can be corrected with the Cornerfix software.
