I bought today PRO F B+W UV IR filter, it looks unused and was priced only 5 EUR, so I thought I would use it on my Contax lenses (55mm filter size). I have just confused it with regular UV filter... I googled UV IR cut and realized it's probably designed for digital cameras (to cut IR that is not good for sensors), but it's still UV isn't it? Can I use it with film cameras as regular UV?

thanks

These dichroic bandpass filters are perfectly suitable for film as well - a bit overkill, but if you got them cheap, you could care less.

However they are not suitable for wideangle lenses (regardless of whether they are used on film or digital), as they are angle-dependent and already cut into the visible range at the edges with fairly modest wideangles - depending on the lens build they can already be unsafe with more compact or deeper recessed 35mm's. You should be fine with the 55mm, though.
