V35 Vario-contrast question

Hi,

I finally found a VC module for my V35. I have a question about it :
In the Leica info there is stated that the exposure time remains constant
throughout grade 0 - 5 (Optimized for Ilford multigrade). Very good.

Are there users among you who can confirm this ?
I can not test it myself for about 2 weeks, but when looking at the light coming through the enlarger lens, it "seems" to me that grade 0 gives more light than grade 5.

So I was wondering if the constant exposure time is a fact in the real world.

An appointment was cancelled today, so I got in the darkroom and tested
my new VC module.

The Leica info on the VC module is correct ! This is great news for me. This is because I work like this :
I test the exposure on the most important part of the image with teststrips at grade 2.
Then I make teststrips at grade 3, 4 & 5 to look for the best contrast.
This is the good part : I can keep the same exposure for grade 4 & 5, without
having to double it.

Then I make a straight print at the choosen grade. This print is then checked
for burning & dodging.

I can say that for anyone using the V35 with Ilford multigrade, this module
is highly recommendend

I don't use this set-up anymore, switched back to the 1C, but I remember consistent times with filter grades 1 to 4, then it doubled. But if its working for you, 1 through 5, great.

It keeps exposure constant for middle grey. I print to get highlights correct and it does not get that right. I use print exposure to get highlights correct, then adjust contrast to get shadows correct.

The other problem is there is a lot of neutral density built into the middle grades to keep for having to raise time for higher grades.
