If you look closely at the right vertical third portion of the picture, you'll notice a blue/purple line going right through the scan
. This was scanned with a V500, any ideas what this stripe is? Thanks.

If this were a color neg, I'd say a scratch. Is it XP2 perhaps?

I agree -- I had a scratch on one roll, and it scanned as a blue line.

I used to have a V500, and this happened fairly frequently with colour film (the line was usually a red/purple colour) and cleaning the glass would make it go away.

I've sometimes got a line with my V100. No idea why.

I just bought a V500. Could be fun
Btw, is this a scan from 35mm? Looks pretty good.

Hey, this is a 120mm scan. It's not a scratch on the neg, I've tested that, the line stays where it is when I look through a group of pictures from many rolls, it's even bigger when I scan 35mm. I want this stripe gone!

Have you cleaned the glass on the scanner? Both sides?

What does cleaning the glass entail?

Cleaning the glass on both sides means opening the scanner up and cleaning the glass - carefully - like it was a large lens. Check your manual for instructions. While you're in there, using an air-bulb, I would blow any dust off the sensor and internal optics.
Using film and scanning it is like making the photograph twice. Except the second time is less fun. (But until that budget-priced RF with the 24x36mm sensor comes out, it's how I roll.)
I think it's dust on the sensor.

You just open up the scanner, and clean both slides of the glass with an air bulb (like one of the rocket ones) or some compressed air if you have to, but gently.
And if you still get the problem, you could wipe down the glass.
