Seems like within the past 2 months, the V600 will randomly shut off during a scan. This can randomly happen after the 2nd scan or after 25 scans... it's really frustrating. :bang: At times it seems like it turns on then shuts off immediately. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this because of a power issue, or the scanner overheating? I don't even know. :(

Hi DKimg, I know it's been a few weeks. I started having exactly the same problem yesterday. Frustrating!...
I am going to call Epson. Did you find a solution?

I had an HP Scanjet G4050 that would do this randomly. It turned out that my Microsoft Keyboard wasn't reporting to the PC the correct USB voltage requirement. Changing the scanner's USB connection to a side of the computer that didn't have any other USB device connected solved the problem. I also swapped out USB cables as well just for good measure.

Mine is an Epson V600. I was suspecting the power adapter, and actually ordered a new one, but I will verify the USB connection as well. The issue is the power adapter stops giving power but I am not totally certain if the scanner itself cannot disable the power adapter. We'll see.

No help from Epson ... warranty expired, they can't fix it over the phone, need to send it to a repair shop.

I had this problem too, but only when not using the negative holders. I've had the problem a couple of times and the only times I had it was when the negs were too close to the top of the scanning surface. It's probably unrelated to your problem, but I figured I might let you know.

@Timendal
Yes, I've seen people reporting power issues when they were using (or not using) the film holder. In my case, it seems to happen in both cases. I still suspect the power adapter. I should receive a new one on Friday. We'll see.

Always go directly from scanner to computer. Keyboard USB and "gang" connections limit data transfer and when the scanner buffer gets full, it stops.

I had a problem with a V500 that involved the cable connecting the top to the main body. This connector in the main body must have come loose from its circuit board or some such problem. For me this manifested itself by the scanner program not seeing the transparency option.

I solved it by propping a book against the connector at the back of the scanner. If there was pressure in a certain direction, everything was fine.

Anyway, just a thought- problem with the connection of the top to the main body.
