v700 image type/resolution

How do you view the image type and resolution settings for a scan?
I can see no diff on the screen for 24-bit color vs. 48-bit color.
Same for 1200dpi vs. 2400dpi.
These would come into play based on what you want to do with the scan, right?
Internet/print small or big.....
Is there tables established that say things like ... use this dpi for this size print.

Do you use unsharp mask while scanning? they sure look better, or would photoshop be better?

1. You can NEVER just scan a negative and the think its "done". All scanned images needs alot of PP.
2. 48-bit colour is for when you are going to do alot of PP. It prevents posterization. And as you always do alot of PP on the scanned images, the 48-bit colour is the setting you always use.
3. Dpi. You have to make sure that the image size dont change when you change the dpi-setting, or else the size will get smaller to compensate for the higher dpi-setting.
4. Sharpening. ALWAYS TURN ALL SHARPENING OFF WHEN SCANNING! OMG, cant you see that the scanners sharpening looks absolutely horrible?! It always uses to small radius so the only thing that gets sharpened is the grain. Use photoshop instead sharpen with a wider radius.
5. You always scan so you get a big good original if you are going to print it. Dont ever put in time and effort scanning a small file for a small print.. thats just meaningless as it will take you almost as much effort.

My last tip for software, USE SILVERFAST and not Epson Scan.
