hi guys

im thinking of selling my mint 0.85 M7 which is boxed

any ideas who much it might be worth... prices seem to vary wildly on the internet

Does it have the upgraded vf and optical contacts? What's the beginning of the SN?
Most of the later model M7s (288+) in good condition have been selling from $2000-2500.
I'd try pricing from the higher end and see if you get hits.

I recently sold a 0.85x with upgraded VF but mechanical DX for $2200. I have a 0.72x with upgraded VF & optical DX plus a CLA in Solms and I expect to get more than that for it. When Solms replaced the DX they put a new top plate on as well as new leatherette and a new bottom plate. Unbelievable.

I'd say $2200. I got one an M7 with upgraded contacts with a warranty from Popflash for right around that price. I've seen them going used for less (should have waited 9 months haha). Though they are .72 finders, there's currently two M7's with a total of 30 rolls through BOTH of them going for $2200 on another site. And they've been there for a couple weeks. I saw one recently in great shape for something like 1700-1800 dollars.

Hard to tell about the upgraded viewfinder without taking it apart. The DX contacts you can tell by inspection. The new one looks like this. The old one looks like a 6 little pyramids, if I recall correctly.

.72 in ex condition sells for around 1500$ on ebay. That's for non VF upgrade or Dx reader upgrade. I assume .85x is rarer, plus the upgrade, $2000 should be no problem

VF is impossible to tell. I was convinced mine had the MP-type finder and I sent it to Leica NJ to make sure but it had the old one. What are the first 4 digits in the serial nr. of your M7?

See the pic below for the optical DX. See the flat reader (not the mechanical pins) on the left side and the extra washer on the lock mechanism on the right side. If yours looks different to this you have the original mechanical DX.

I read somewhere that a box is worth $100, if you can believe that. Anything recent, I would expect to get a box myself, it makes it a little easier to sell. A box without a matching serial nr. is nowhere near worth a hundred bucks I would think.

Buyers are more likely to believe the camera was well looked after if the serial-numbered box is offered with the camera. Just the way it is. For those of us with more experince, I'm looking at other details; such the specific M7 model, serial number, any dings/dents, and overall cond.
