Not sure on the price for a black one, but the chrome lenses actually are chrome (other Voigtlander lenses often are silver-anodised, muchb softer) and all brass. I just wish there was a substitute for the plastic tab that is on them. On a new lens it looks almost chrome but I guess the paint on that will wear over time and I wonder what plastic is underneath.
Erik van Straten tipped me off that the standard Leitz hoods grip onto the front of these lenses just fine.
All in all the chrome ones (and likely black ones too) are quite worth the quoted USD 375, IMHO.

That Canon 50/1.4 in the classifieds is stunning. I wish I had the funds. I'd settle for a CV50/2.5 but they are high too.🙁

Just paid $429 for a brand new one from Photovillage.... Would have bought the used one in the classifieds had I seen it first.

the canon is a great lens...but i like the smallness of the cv 2.5 better.

Same here. I snhoot the 50/2.5 on my Leica II as well and it's a nice small and pocketable set like that! The Canon would likely be humongous on that...?

I bet the Canon is quite large. I'm content with my CV35/2.5 & jupiter 50/1.5. But it's fun to LUST.😱

i have had the canon in the past, along with the canon 1.2 and 1.8...all good glass with different looks...these days i am more into what i can do with what i have.
actually i have been thinking of cutting back on my rf kit, maybe down to 2 bodies with lenses attached and that's it...no 'extra' lenses at all...
maybe just a 21 and a 40...

I bought mine a long time ago at a very low price, although I cannot remember how much it was. To my mind, unless you just need a much larger maximum aperture, it is a totally satisfactory lens for practical work rather than merely for lens testing.
A vital reason for me to hold on to mine is that its imaging characteristics matches that of my CV 35/2.5. To me it is most important because I need the consistency when photographing for publication purposes; it is not a good thing to have pictures with different looks mixed together for any particular assignment, and that's reason enough.

My new CV 50/2.5 just arrived in the mail today. I must say it's a nice piece of work! If they made a 35/2.5 version just like this one I would buy it. (I already have a CV 35/2.5 and it performs beautifully, but it's not made like this one.)
It's great on a Barnack Leica as it just barely intrudes on the built-in VF - and the chrome is very pretty.
I feel a little bad I did not buy from our main sponsor - for some reason I assumed he did not have them in stock!

B&H had chrome ones new for $289 a couple of times in November. I got one and it is by far the best built CV lens I have had...
