Did thet Value Village thing again. Need I say more. Oh is a auto focus still a range finder? Dave do you want the electro 35 (not a GSN) app is working, shutter is not. Lens barrel is damaged and lose at the end. Glass looks ok though. Rangefiner is working. John

Pretty cool Value Village you got there. Wish my local SA and GW had anything similar. They just have broken Time-Life cameras. Sigh.

Best Regards,

I've checked out a Value Village and a Goodwill store (in Toronto), but all I found was outrageously overpriced junk. No $5 Retinas.

I have done good in the past 3 x SX-70, Electro 35, 2 x Ricoh, Konica, 2 x Canonet, many good quailty 35 P&S cameras. Beseler enlarger oh Hi-Matic F, AF-D, S, Pentax ME super with 50mm 1.4, Pentax SP 1000 with 50mm 1.8, Vivitar 2800 flash, Film developing equipment and so on. Oh My I spend way to much time in second hand stores Oh buy the way local Goodwill and sally army stores have stop doing auctions and now just price the stuff and put it in the display case for sale.

No luck with Goodwill, Value Village, flea markets or any other thrift store so far. I think the book and bag sections will more likely hide a good bargain than the "camera/junk" shelf.

Hay no one answered my question. Is auto focus still a range finder?

I believe most would say no. AF may triangulate to focus - depending on type and model of AF used - so technically it is 'ranging' but you don't have a RF patch and you don't have manual override with a RF patch, so for most of us, that's not a rangefinder camera. Not that it is not a cool camera - just not a RF. Just my 2 cents.

I have lots of cool non-RF cameras I love. Zeiss Continas are way cool. No RF.

Same here for Goodwill--even the old Brownies are too good for the shelves. On last check, shopgoodwill.com is still auctioning cameras. Value Village puts some stuff in a glass case, priced higher than the going rate on Ebay. Our local Salvation Army seems to have more interesting stuff on the shelves. Or, they did, before they closd down. shopgoodwill.com

Vallue Village can be a real gold mine! (If you get there first and quick.)
