great review. I might just pick one up and try it out after this. Thank you for all your hard work to put together a thorough assessment of the 75

Photozone actually reviewed a bunch of M mount lenses on the their Nex series.

They show quite interesting results. I wonder if the AA filter in those cameras is altering their findings. (or maybe even the adapter changing the distance) I just don't feel their results are quite as consistent amongst their lenses with what I find on the M8. This is in contrast to their reviews being pretty much on the money with SLR lenses on SLR bodies. Then again, they play the numbers game more than the rendering.

Its funny to see those lenses mounted on such a small camera. Here I am thinking the M8 with any lens slower than f/2 is tiny!

The adapter may change distance and may fail to focus at infinity but you focus through the lens, like an SLR on the NEX so there is no focus problem even if the adpater does not focus pefectly at infinity.

Great review AncientCity.

I loved this lens on an M8. Now I have a 9 and I have not used the Colour Heliar in over a year. I think I forgot just how good it was, and never really got the hang of composing with a 75mm EFOV rather than a 100mm EFOV. It's wierd really, because I know that the same great lens is "within" the 75mm image if I crop enough... it's just that I don't seem to be able to imagine that crop at the time I take the photo. Also, I have 50mm f1.5 sonnar that is smaller, lighter, faster, and easier for me to compose with.

Your review has inspired me to go dig it out again and dedicate some time to it.
