VC Meter on a Contax II

Is there any way to adjust a VC Meter (the first version) to fit the accessory shoe on a Contax II? I got mine second hand, so I don't have a manual, and wanted to check with saner minds before I start unscrewing things randomly in the name of science.

The second version has a second position for the shoe. You remove 3 screws and move the shoe then replace the screws (I think they are different lengths, so be careful). Sorry I don't know about the first version.
