i don't use this lens/focal length enough... often think about selling it but then i shoot a roll through it and realize it's just too good to let go of...

anyone else have examples of results produced using this fine lens?

The 21 is my favorite lens next to the 35. I am impatiently awaiting the R4 to mount this great glass on.

I know it's a little off topic, but what kind of film were you using for these shots? I really like the color quality and contrast.

Bailey - thanks.. the film is Kodak Gold 100, handheld at 1/8 or 1/15 @ f4... it was quite dark in the back of that cafe... i did some slight curve adjustments to bring up the contrast a bit... scan was from Noritsu at time of processing ...

Great lens. Here's another...

This a very powerful shot Ray - i've always thought a 21 captures too much information but in this shot all the angles and hospital equipment help strengthen the power of the image.

Do you have any more from this series?

Selling the 21/4 would be one big mistake. Here are some of mine. BTW, I like shooting wide-angled shots in vertical format, how about you guys ?

The CV 21/4 is a very nice little lens, but I found that I prefered the 25/4. I found the perspective a little too dramatic in the 21, while with the 25, the images almost looked like they weren't taken with a wide-angle at all. Who knows, though, I'll probably pick up another 21 some day!

These images were taken with the 21:

Thanks for all the comments.

Simon, unfortunately not a whole lot. I just visited for the afternoon and a friend of mine gave me a tour. The place was also much darker than I had remembered, and I was not well equipped for that.

Here are a couple more, both with the 21/4 on the Hexar RF. I love the tiny skopar, if only because the alternatives in Leica and Zeiss glass are so much more expensive, especially for what is, for me, a 2% lens.

The sick boy's eyes caught my attention here.

I had to set up quickly here to catch the veiled lady in black that glided through.

I too really like this lens. Here are a couple of shots that I took with it on a recent trip to Koln.

I got the chance to borrow one from a friend a few months ago -- I *really* liked it, it's on my wishlist now. 🙂

Here's one of the results, on FP4+: (the image links to flickr, where there's a bigger version)

Great shots!

Of all my lenses though, I find this the hardest to use well. Especially for candid and street shooting, you really need to get up close to make the composition interesting. You need to be comfortable getting "in the face" of a stranger.

I like these shots too Ray. Poor light in these places can make things very tricky and having F4 as max aperture can't help - but again you've made the angles work in the composition - it looks more like a 28 in these shots.

What drew me to this thread was the idea of having to eventaully get a 21mm to equal a 28 FOV on the M8. Many of the images posted here and shot the VC 21/4 are extremely sharp (at least viewed on screen) so it's certainly worth considering as even a 28mm is often too wide for me. Too wide in the sense that it captures too much information outside of the center- if that makes any sense 😕 🙂
