...i got the little lowepro terra clime 100.

no velcro, not even those annoying plastic clips that clatter when you walk - but a unique system that works really well.

i have been using a bbb2 bag lately and it's pretty good but the velcro is super strong, more so than any other bag i have used, and the noise is driving me up the wall.
i need to duct tape half of it i guess.

That sound when you separate velcro is the biggest detraction to using it IMO!

I love my Domke F5xb but the ****ing velcro on that flap could keep a 747 on the tarmac at full thrust!

What did we use before velcro was inflicted on us?

The older Crumpler bags have the same problem - super-strong Velcro that's really loud. It really sucks when you're in a museum and everyone's heads turns to look at you and your stupid bag. Crumpler fixed the problem with their current line by including flaps that can be put over the Velcro.

I fixed the problem on my old bag by going on eBay and buying a 4" roll of Velcro in the same color as my bag. I cut a piece to fit the patch on the bag.

I sewed Velcro on the epaulettes of my photovest, as well as on both sides of my bag strap and camera straps, and nothing ever slips off my shoulders (and that includes a motorized Nikon F2 with a 300 2.8 and monopod). In fact about two months ago, a camera strap fastener came loose and the camera was momentarily dangling off my shoulder by one end of the strap.
But because the Velcro on the strap was stuck to my epaulette, the camera didn't fall to the sidewalk.
Is Velcro sometimes too noisy, and even too sticky?
Sure, but it's only a minor annoyance when compared with the security and convenience it affords me.

Joe, I recently got the lowepro terra clime 100 and I find I never use it as a camera bag but more my daybag. The one compartment doesn't suit me and the fasteners are a little fiddly, but a well made bag nevertheless. I would like the BBB2 (even with velcro) as I have the BBB and it suits me better than the terraclime. For the most part the velcro doesn't annoy me and is pretty secure.

i got used to the terra clime's clips pretty fast and if i need a divider i use a butchered domke single insert. i love the length of the strap on the 100.
i recently bought a mint bbb2 and i love/hate it. it fits everything i could want to put into it, is very comfy to carry and feels great but it's a pain to get gear into and out of it when walking around. at times i want to rip out the little dividers/pockets and use this old 3 section insert that i have had for years.

with the terra clime, i can get 2 bodies with lenses attached plus 1 or 2 more lenses in the insert (used as a divider) and can easily move the gear in and out.

i should just accept that there is no perfect bag for me...

so, today i put both the g1 and the gf1 with lenses attached (my entire m4/3 kit) into the bbb2 bag, along with my spare battery and it was a great fit. lots of room left and the cameras ease in and out of the bag. with 2 bodies and 2 lenses there are never lens changes to worry about and hassle with.
this might work.

I know how you feel Joe. I've a number of bags and I'm now looking to try a BBB2 if I can find one for sale. May actually sell one or two of my others if I can fnd a BBB2.

Currently got:

Billingham Hadley - used as my flight bag about twice a year
Domke F-5xb - used only a handful of times
BBB - my usual choice though sometimes a tad small
Domke F-803 - bought recently and only used twice so far.
Terraclime 100 - being used my daily 'manbag' at the moment.
Eastpak Manhattan - used once. Lots of pockets and space for a small bag
plus a couple of others

My old Crumpler had velcro that was so loud it made the whole thing unusable. Why someone would put noisy velcro on a camerabag is beyond me.
That being said, the next Crumpler bag I bought didn't have any velcro on it.

perhaps we could work a trade.
i have a mint bbb2 that only sorta works for me.

Velcro being ripped open reminds me of an incident in a library. My brother decisively opened a velcro flap on the bag to take out his library books. At that very moment a young man with a pair of tight fitting jeans bent down to pick up his library card that he had dropped. When he heard the "tore" he jerk upright whilst turning his back to the wall in one swooping movemen and began to shuffle(very quikly and backwards) towards the door.
The usualy prim-and-proper librarian had a tough time to get the other library users to stop lauging, mainly because she could not stop lauging herself.
To this day I wonder if there is anythng to learn from this story. Perhaps.

Nice story. It tells me to open such a stupid bag only in a situation when I want such a laughter... imagine this noise in a moment when a woman depilates her legs, or when removing a beauty mask...
