Vented Hoods - Were to Buy ?

I need a few vented hoods. I am looking at one offered from

"Digital Battery and Photos" on Ebay

a 40.5 is $17.50 USD. + $3.50 S/H .

Anyone had good/bad experiance with them??

Other avenues I shood take? Can you provide a link ??,

Also I would like a longer one for my 85/2 J9 too. also 40.5.

That link was to the 'bay Canada (.ca). But Heavystar is in the US. So the hood must be available on the US site as well.

Thanks for the links! I have bought a 40.5 UV, and will need 2 more (next week). Also found a nice Vented hood with 55mm Cap. will get 3 next week also.

?? Does anyone make a 39mm > 40.5 step up ring. Nikon made a 39mm short Tele hood for thier 90/135 RF lens. and heavystar has a one for sale.

Thanks again. I will recieve my Kiev 4a next week. and when I get my 1st roll back from the lab with scanned files (for 8x12 inch at 300dpi) I will post a few in a gallery here.

Can someone confirm that American Eagle and Heavy Star carry the same "S&W" filters? American Eagle seems cheaper, but I can't compare service.

Sorry if i am bumping such an old thread. I didnt want to start one cause i knew there would be one simlar..

anyways, I recieved my FED-2 with an Industar-61 53mm lens today. I am having lots of fun, but with to get a hood with it for protection, shade and just for looks 😀

But I am wondering if I need a 39mm vented hood or a 40.5?

Be aware, however, that all aluminum lenses and filters will gall or freeze to steel or chrome plated lenses if screwed in too tight! Be careful.

i found 40.5mm vented hoods at a place in nyc for 9.99 shipped. got one for my minolta a5. it's a good product, made in china. several sizes offered. matte black aluminum. sorry, can' remember the store. found it on ebay ...
