Venting !!!

Jorge:
Photo.net indeed is a big place, a referendum to photographers work and gear, I wonder why I should read the forum there if here is the same people on a greater web platform plus a cool gallery and a friendly comunity.
Regardless this a rangefinder forum here everyone can ask for help for anything related to photography and won't be hit on the head with a stick for dare to ask.
People like that only prooves that this is a great place you made.

Pablo

People hust wants a couple minutes of celebrity.
What's "celebrity" for someone, it depends...

Strange stuffs in the Leica Forum sometime...

Well, Jorge, we certainly appreciate this little corner of civility in the wild, wild, web. Thanks for all of your hard work managing this site!

I was never thrilled with that site - I've learned more from this site than photo.net. I'm glad I stumbled upon this place.

Okay, I'm a newbie here. The truth is, for a short time I watched from the sidelines of a few photog forums before landing here. If RFF was a welcome schmuck asylum for pitiful stephens, I wouldn't waste my time even stopping by. But it's not and I, like these others, appreciate it. Continue the site with your present integrity, Jorge, and we'll all enjoy it for a long time. (Especially after the rest of you guys get over me winning the camera!!! Yowza!!)

I read photo net occasionally. It appears to me like it's a good example of that old analogy of trying to take a drink from a fire hose -- you'll get very wet but you will still be thirsty. :)

I'm glad I stumbled upon this place.

Me too most definitely! I appreciate the depth of knowledge here and the willingness of people to ask and answer questions in a sane manner.

I could not find the thread i guess they pulled it.... What was said? or you know what I don't even want to know... It is ashame that are a few or more people on that sight.. Who never post a photo but rip people stuff apart and not in a constructive way... I really enjoy you folks here, it is nice place. I seldom even go to the p.net anymore because of the none sense of a few partially grown men who have nothing else to do with their time than try to make people upset who can reach them to punch them in the face.... Which is why most of them act that way... There is no consquence for action on your computer in your safe little house.... Thank you to everyone here and esp. Jorge for a great place to come and look and listen about something I really enjoy.

Ciao:

I will ring on this bell. I am not able to read what initially happened, but I will briefly and as modestly as possible, describe my experiences on p.net.

Nothing more than others have said, however, I feel so strongly about how pathetic these individuals are there I am taking the time.

People that hide behind their keyboard, no common courtesy, Leica bashing, envy, insecurity, etc...generally pathetic individuals that honestly have no talent.

For all the talk I have seen perhaps a handful of decent photos there anyway.

FWIW, I am truly thankful for this forum as a new member. When one is the only polite and decent mannered individual around it seems such "wannabeees" or "could have beens" absorbed in their own pathetic self destructive and self defeating anger/hostility, one begins to feel as if they are the crazy one. I was alwauys thinking what the H#ll am I doing here?! What kind of people are these?!

It apparently at one time had many pro photogs and was an informative place, but has since deteriorated and all have left. it apparently was more or less a private club of these folks, drove any new memebers out...There were always bitter and hostile individuals there, and it has increased. Now there is nothing but crap...

This is what a forum should be about, and I have found the people here impressive and the types I would enjoy a friendship with. Truly a higher class group here.

It is a great resource and outlet for those starving (and learning) for Leica and photog. related info in a place where one cannot really obtain it....even then....

FWIW...thanks all.

Regards
Demian

Basically a vicious personal attack upon Jorge for, crime of all crimes, giving away a nice camera and lens (no kidding). It certainly qualified for "truth being stranger than fiction":).

I think Jorges plan is brillent and nice to see. This is a contest that will get people think about rangefinders and get them out shooting more .. And besides the fact of him giving this camera away for a good cause of rangefinder photography (which he obviously loves) and the people who love it
it is none of anybody elses business...

Thanks Jorge

Ok, I'm too late and the thread is allready deleted without my taking part in it. This happend too often to threads where I spend time and effort to contribute :-(

The street and documentary forum over at PN is nice and provides me with some inspiration but the Leica forum isn't what it used to be a year ago.

This place is much more fun and I think one reason ist that most regulars here use their cameras and don't mind a brand name but what they can get out of it.

Photography is an art and a camera is a tool in which you use to expess your art... So what the hell does it matter what brush you use... I have a 111a leica and I love it. I really want to buy a Yashica ' because the images I see with it look great... It is an equal brush in the hands of a skilled or alot of time an unskilled artist. I take many sh*T photos but sometimes I get a good one. who care what rangefinder camera it came from.....

Couldn't agree more, skinny.

I'm sure that with a Leica, I could take photos that are absolutely every bit as bad as the shots I currently get with my Olympus! :p

Cheers,

Steve

PS, Jorge, you set up a great place for lotsa great guys, and what do you get? A great place full of great guys. Thanks again, mate.

"I take many sh*T photos but sometimes I get a good one."

Skinny, we all do exactly the same thing. Sometimes I shoot a whole roll without a single worthwhile image. Other times I may find a couple of decent shots and, once in a great while, a really good image comes along.

OTOH, what I consider to be a "great" shot may not appeal to anyone else but me. And so it goes........ :)

I think one of the best things here at RFF is that members seem to come to the aid of those who have a need. I have never once been made to feel unwelcome or even admonished when I probably could have been (I think I have stepped on a couple of threads).

I am a newbie here and in photography. I had originally watched from the sidelines at photo.net, but moved on. What made me settle here was the breadth of information on a single class of cameras. Then, after reading many of the threads I learned that there was so much more by way of comradery.

Thanks Jorge for making a comfortable space for all of us.
