Hey guys,
I just got a coolscan V and I'm using vuescan.
Even though I am using heavy infrared cleaning, my scans are filthy.
These are new negatives, and I can't see these marks when looking at them.
Whats going on? Any tips?
here is an example:
This is a crop
Thanks!

Are you using infrared on silver negatives? (That doesn't work) What do you see on the negatives with a loupe?

You just have dirty negatives
No worries, just get the dust off or rewash with photo flo. And as you already know, no ICE on silver!

If that was crud that that was on the emulsion as it dried ...it aint ever coming off!
If this silver based B&W, Ive seen this level of mess before using old fix. Not old mixed up fix but just old in the bottle. Just have a good look for muck in the chemicals before using them.
