Very Impressed with CV results

Hello evryone,

I have been browsing through the galleries and forum and my eye was caught by the wide angle Voigtländer lenses. They are apparently good and cheap(er).

I never considered myself a wide angle photographer but after seeing some of these wonderfull images, if only on an LCD, has made me curious about using them.

The widest lens I have is a 35mm which considering is not wide.... I was wondering if anyone has a VC 15 or 21mm for sale including an adapter (?) which I gather you need to fit on a M mount Leica. I would really like to try this out as I can already imagine some shots I would be making with it.

I think, personally, that the 21mm would suit my needs best but am willing to try a 15mm.

Welcome to the forum Monika! There is a 15mm (not sure about the 21) over on photo.net. It is a FS item in the Leica forum. Also you should place a WTB: (want to buy) advert both over there and here as well. I have the 15 - a wonderful lens. Good luck!

I've shot a lot of ultra-wide on SLRs Monika...rangefinders being still relatively new to me.
Wide-wide can be very addicting. At first, you become very excited and see every subject as something new to explore with your new tool (toy). Eventually, you settle down become willing to actually put other lenses on your camera again.

That shot looks cool, but clicking the thumbnail just gives you another thumbnail....

I've never shot as wide as 12mm.

Wide angle is good, but it is not very easy to use a really wide efficiently.
My first shots with the 17mm (actually my many many first shots) were either very empty looking or distirted like hell.

I can imagine the addictiveness in the beginning, but then again, shoot the lenght where you need the lenght.

I can imagine a 21mm shot of the Damrak (main square in amsterdam) on a busy pre-christmas shopping night, slightly drizzly .... shoot at f8 or f16 at 4sec or so on APX 100 or perhaps tri-x at 200 developed in rodinal ....

these are the sort of visions I get.

I also need a bubble straightholder thing for theres nothing worse than out of line wide-angle shots.

That little CV spirit level is a godsend, very difficult to keep verticals without it

Welcome. Ooooh, I get all excited when you talk APX/Rodinal to me! :angel:

That combination is my favourite in b&w, and long exposures in that kind of lighting generally have a really wonderful look and feel. I have never used anything wider than 21, but the 12mm and 15mm shots I've seen here are quite nice.
