Yeaterday I got some testshots back from my new-old Summilux 75. I was very impressed with the results: incredible detail, subtle, subtle colour shades and a very delicate boke adding up to shots that were almost 3-D. I hope some of it survives scanning-resizing-compressing. Normally a 800 Pixel image will require little compression, these contained such an amount of information that I had to come down from over 500 Mb....
Like this one:

Or this one:

And the lens is super in the theatre too: no flare, no reflections and look at the way it conveys the effect of the "floating" band and the shadow detail.

Yes, your scan shows plenty of shadow detail, but lacks any pure 'black' in the image....just a slight adjustment of curves/levels will do the trick. A great lens though.

Jaapv,

Congrats on the 75 Lux. I love the rendering in that first photo. I traded a 90 Cron APO for the new 75 Cron ASPH and have never looked back.

Magus,

We keep telling you that you should try the 75 vs. the 90. 😛 😀

Nice results! 2 is the best, although the 3rd shot is blurry and looks like it could have been shot with any lens.

You would expect such an expensive lens to give you the results like in #2

You're not commenting on the lens here, but on my miserable scanning technique.... 🙁

The Summilux 75 is very high on my wish list and the 35 non-ASPH as well, both for the same reasons: bokeh, 3D and subtle colours. An M3 with those 2 lenses would be plenty for me. A tad large compared to the barnacks I'm using now, but it would replace my SLR, not my pocket camera. The good news is I'm not tempted to buy any Summilux now because I don't have an M camera yet. And the M39 Summilux is outrageously expensive 🙂

I also like #2 the best, #1 second, #3 is okay. Thanks for the nice display of the lens' capabilities.

Very nice, Jaap. I'm a big proponent of the 75mm focal length on 35mm, but came to this view in an odd way - by using a 50mm on my Nikon DSLRs!

I'm loving my recent C-V 75mm acquisition, and hope to someday replace it with a 75mm Cron. I do like the look of your Lux, though!

Second that CV 75, cracking lens, got mine from a member here, should have got one a long time ago. No more GAS for me please 🙁

Lessons learned # 247: Do not sell your leica lenses... you'll wish you hadn't, and as soon as you do you'll find the reason you bought them in the first place. I found out the hard way...

Ah yes the 75 lux- fantastic lens esp. complementing the 35mm focal length. With those 2, does one need more? I'm going to get another 75mm, had the lux but had to sell one time.
