Very impressed with the 75 'Lux

I always though well about this lens: but isn't it a little heavy to take with you? that was the reason (after a long thinking) to choose the cron a step lower instead. I know that the paradox is that cost is actually lower for 1,4! Anyway very good job. congrats.

As a relatively new 75mm Summilux owner (bought a used Canadian version from a fellow RFF a few months back) I'd have to say that the weight/size issue of the 75/1.4 is overblown. If you're used to medium format, or the typical 85mm lens that comes with a 35mm SLR, the Leica lens is downright svelte. I find that the lens balances on my MP just fine and I have no problem carrying this camera/lens combo for hours on end. Of course I like fast lenses (my favorite 50mm is the Canon 50/1.2, not exactly what I call tiny) so am used to big glass. Folks who favor smaller, lighter lenses may disagree. They won't disagree on the image quality of the 75 Summilux though, which folks find to be truly extraordinaire.

does the 75 M have the same foot print to the 80 R? in this semi tele range, I prefer SLR better, and with Canon 5D out there....

Probably very similar fingerprint. I've always heard the two compared design-wise and imaging-wise.

Heard that 75 lux encroaches on the viewfinder a bit much. I opted for the 75 cron after it first came out. Still lust after that extra stop though.
