Very Long shutter release on Electro 35 GSN?

hi, I love the images from my electro 35. but one little thing that's been bugging me is what to me seems like very long and stiff shutter release on these 70's beauties. my basis of comparison are modern EOS cameras and another 70's rangefinder, the Olympus 35rc. now the Oly's shutter release feels just fine to me. Do other Electro users have to same problem? or is it just my example? or am I just too picky?

Does a mini soft release help with this? I have noticed the long release times also.

The travelling distance is due (as Greyhoundman told) to the mechanichal switch assembly inside the camera. The switches itself are 3 and 2 finger arrays wiping over a small PC board travelling about 6 mm. The stiffness is because both switches are held in upward position by two springs of considerable force which you must overcome to trip the shutter. The springs´ force is the cause of the destruction of the "death pad" in early YE35 models (it was replaced later with a translucent yellowish material which 25+ years later is still in good shape).
A soft release will help to reduce vibration especially when shooting in dim light situations , it is when camera chooses any speed below 1/30 (yellow light). I have one YE35 GT and one MG1 and both provide the same weird feeling. Modern electronic cameras like your EOS solved with electronic means all the functions which Yashica did with mechanics.

thanks for all the responses. well, at least that confirms there is nothing wrong with my Electro 🙂
I do have a release aid, the type that screws into the thread shutter release. But it doesn't go in far enough to activate the shutter. what type of "soft release" do you use? how much does it help?

I got a GSN from g'man that has the above release and it works like a charm!
