I've had Photoshop Elements for some time, and, a paper manual to go with it. I've generally struggled. I suspect that at my age the thought of getting my head round something different is enough to put me off. Generally PSE has remained a mystery.
Quite by chance 'Picasa 3' was mentioned to me and in a fit of bravery I downloaded - I'm apprehensive about downloading unknown items, and especially when they are alleged to be free!
I've now found photos on my computer that I thought were there and didn't know where. I've discovered photos I never knew were there. And I can now find the photos that I want when I want and without any hassle!
Not only that I can do just about as much editing of my photos as I want, and I can do it easily.
In fact I'm quite delighted.
I wish I had know about the program earlier.
If you are a simple soul like me and don't really care for PS and PSE, perhaps, just perhaps 'Picasa 3' might be worth a try.

Yea, Picasa 3 is surprisingly good and the price is right.

Some of the editing functions of Picasa really are very good. I'm not a photoshop person and use ACDSee Pro as I find it much more usable ... photoshop is way too complex for my skills!

Considering Picasa is freeware it's exceptional IMO!

PSE offers several automatic adjustments that have always seemed to work well for me on reasonably exposed images. Picasso offers similar features. If you like the automatic functions, you're good to go. Then, you need to decide if learning PS/PSE to tweak the minority of images the auto functions can't handle is worth the time and effort.

I was very grateful to the friend who helped me to download Picasa 3 - it was much easier than I thought and I was thrilled how quickly I was able to progress and edit my photographs. I can now find what I want and can also add "thumbnails" to the threads!
