I have a hexar LTD which is great for wides. But my most common lenses are 50 and 35. Occasionally a 28 or 90. Fastest is the 60/1.2. For using the 1.2 lenses, I have wanted something more accurate.
I have tried using a megaperls 1.35x magnifier which helps some. But I wish I had a more natural solution. I wish I had a Canon P viewfinder with a longer baselength. My wishing hand's not filling up very fast.
I figure that for night shooting, an internal meter is pretty useful as it's sometimes difficult to read my vcii in low light. Makes an .85 MP sound really nice.
What's been a good low-light option for you fine folks?
Can a .72 VF MP with the megaperls be a better option than the .85?

With a 1.2 lens you have nearly no room for error. Using it in low light only makes it worse. This is where my Leicaflex excels. Nothing beats actually seeing through the lens at what you're focusing on, and even then I've made mistakes in low light. You might want to try a Bessa R3a. The viewfinder is especially big, but the RF baseline is short. I always liked the viewfinder on the M3 as well.

Are you not talking about the range-finder?

Sometimes I use the HK supplies 1.25 magnifier on .72 viewfinders. The 50mm framelines are usable but difficult to see entirely.

To be more clear, I'm thinking of a combined viewfinder / rangefinder. While, technically, the effective baselength of a LTM is pretty good, I don't know of any that would mount M lenses as I require this camera to do (including Hex 50/1.2, CV 35/1.2).

I see.

There's also an option to use an even higher magnification eyepiece like the 1.4x for focusing and 50mm/35mm viewfinders for composing.
