viewfinder with double vison? pics.

I took the top of to clean a bit, and now the whole viewfinder exhibits a yellowed double image. the rangefinder patch still works, but I can't figure out what's causing the overall double image. you can see it to the left of the TV there.

I have a TLR that does that after I cleaned the silver off the front surface of the viewfinder mirror. The light is reflecting off both the front and back surfaces of the mirror glass, so there is a double image. The coating is pretty fragile, mine was oxidized so bad that it came off as soon as I touched it.

The Yashica Guy and a couple of other sites stress not to touch the mirrored surfaces in the rangefinder mechanism with anything at all ... that coating is very fragile apparently!

It could be that the mirror coating is worn off, but I have found that it is much stronger than it has been described. I clean them with a breath and a Q Tip with no damage.
Does it sound as though anything might have come loose inthe viewfinder? That would be the other possibility...
