Vince Lupo's Mapping the West

Hello Vince. My first time seeing your photos and they're really impressive. Great tones, atmosphere, a certain ambiguity and irony, and a bit of forlorn-ness. A great combination, very evocative. I'm surprised you didn't sell anything in Baltimore, but being from there and thinking of it as a blue collar steel town, pretty divorced from farming and the grassland, maybe the resonance wasn't there. You never know though. Great photos, thanks for sharing.

Many thanks - that's a very good thought as to why I likely didn't sell anything at that show, as well as a very insightful analysis of the work itself. On a bright note, I did sell a number of them before the show, which helped to cover the cost of the trip in September, so all was not completely lost :)

I'd love to hook up with a commercial gallery out West, but so far haven't had any luck. There's one in particular in Santa Fe that I personally think would be a good match, and I've been in conversation with the gallery owner, but so far nothing.

I'm probably going to head back out in May for the lettuce harvest, then the show moves to Harrisonburg, VA in July (might have as many as 30 pieces in that show!), then the Artist in Residence program in Carrizozo, NM commences in January 2021 for 5 weeks.

When I was out there a week or so ago, I met again with the organizers of the AIR program as well as the current artist in residence. It's going to be a super opportunity - Carrizozo is home to the largest photography gallery in New Mexico, but the primary organizer of the AIR program also has her own gallery in town. She's going to give me her entire gallery to showcase my work while I'm there (should be able to fit about 32 pieces), and will have the opportunity to show additional work as it's created there during my stay. I'll be lugging my computer, printer and all matting/framing materials out there, so the time there will be devoted to shooting, editing, printing and framing of new work.

Well I blew it.... in my thinking

Just returned from DC for the Holidays
Thought Vince was having a second show at the Leica Gallery
and was disappointed there was someone else !

Kristen at the gallery said Your show was recently in Baltimore, (I think)

oh well, I tried
grief takes such a toll on one's thinking & memory...arghhh

Appreciate the thought! The show was actually in Baltimore at the Creative Alliance and closed on the 7th. Next show is in July in Harrisonburg, VA, then onto Carrizozo, NM in January 2021.
