Vince Lupo's Mapping the West

My final choices for the show at the Creative Alliance in Baltimore, in this order.

I solicited the opinions of a fellow photographer friend of mine in Toronto, Rick McGinnis, as well as my wife. Some are theirs, some are mine. I know I won't please everyone, but this is where the show currently is. It might change!

My main concern regarding this show:
Might encourage more people to come to NM. We prefer it sparsely populated.....
Seriously though. All these images could be pulled straight from my memory -- I foolishly never thought to make images as I go.
The images we've seen so far are fantastic! I just don't know if its personal bias (good bias) that evokes the warm appreciation.
Missed your show in Bellevue by a couple weeks....out of my control....maybe another show will work its way west? Wishing good luck with this upcoming one.

Vince, somehow I missed this thread. Your photos are really tops. I drive through the Sacramento and California Central Valley often, I always think there are some great photos out there but I never stop. Come out to our valleys for a fresh look.

Many many thanks guys -- This past trip was undoubtedly the most rewarding, and I have a whole new crop of friends out there now. I'm hoping to go back the first week of December for the pecan harvest. Hoping to get back to Dell City, TX while I'm there as well.

This stretch has also been profitable in another way -- I've sold a bunch of prints!

I've been trying to get into a gallery out there for the last few years. The last gallery I was in, it was one of those co-op situations (pay a monthly fee to be there) and it didn't really work out as I'd hoped. There are three photo galleries in Santa Fe, and I'd be thrilled to be in two of them, but haven't had much luck with them so far. Ah well. Right now my friend Gloria has a few pieces of mine in her jewelry studio/gallery in Old Town Albuquerque and there are a couple at a spa in Madrid, but I think that's it as far as any kind of public display goes out there.

I'm going to be spending 5 weeks in Carrizozo in January 2021 for an Artist in Residence program there. Believe it or not, the largest photo gallery in the state is located in Carrizozo. Not sure if they'll be able to carve out any space for a show at the end of my residency there, but hoping so!

I just went to your website, really nice! I grew up in a suburb outside of Portland Oregon. Back then you didn't have to drive anymore than 5 miles to get to places that looked a lot like Dell, Texas. The realization of every photographer is that they should have taken more pictures. I wish I had. Your Dell, Texas photos on your website are excellent.

20 photos matted and framed -- all ready for the exhibition opening at the Creative Alliance this coming Friday!

Frames2 2019

9 of the 20 pieces are from my Western excursions in April and September of this year, so they'll be exhibited for the first time in this show.

The reception will be from 6pm to 8pm in the Amalie Rothschild Gallery at the Creative Alliance, 3134 Eastern Ave, Baltimore 21224. Refreshments will be provided by Lebanese Taverna and the Creative Alliance.

The show runs from this Friday thru December 7th. Hope to see you!

The show is now up and ready for the reception at 6pm. I have no idea how many people will be in attendance -- might be just me! Hoping for a good turnout and a few red dots :)

I did end up making one change to the series, replacing one photo, and I think it's better for it.

Refreshments will be provided by Lebanese Taverna and the Creative Alliance. Hope to see you tonight!
