I recently saw a documentry on the National Geographic photographer Paul Nicklen and his photoshoot in British Columbia to capture pictures of the Spirit Bear. He produced some incredible shots of this white varient bear. At the end he said "When the vision becomes a lump in the throat, that's photography". Does this sum up great photography for you?

Here is one of his shots

There’s a reason why there are so many books about photography out there and it’s because you can’t sum photography up into one sentence. There are many great quotes and many nail some aspects of photography, but not one covers it all. (This especially not, because I don’t want and need to have a a lump of vision in my throat for being a photographer or doing photography.)

No. I love your shots. Not sure it's emotion so much - certainly something more subtle than a lump in the throat. The weekly gallery picks affect me some way, more like a return to the tonic in music, a resonant satisfaction.
