Do I pretend that anything is a perfect simulacrum of experience? No, though I'd argue that many things (novels, photos, poems, plays) are surprisingly satisfactory simulacra. Do I pretend that words are a perfect vehicle of communication? No, though again, I'd argue that they can be astonishingly good in the hands of someone who knows how to use them. None of this has much to do with 'insult', though.
