That is such a lovely story about the family connections in that old Voigtlander camera, and finding the prints from it. I started photography with my Dad's mid 50's Zeiss fixed lens rangefinder, and it still holds a special place for me..

I was lucky to find an original shade though 😀 - not that you need one, as the front element is almost a "build in" shade and the coating seems to work fine - but nice to have anyways...

Have managed to track down and order, an "as new" hood and yellow filter, and hopefully a case. I dont want to use it yet without the case and neck strap, as I would be sure to drop it. The more I look at and examine it the more I am impressed with the fit and finish, I cannot even think how much it would cost to make one to that standard today. Its as heavy as my Bessa R2. I love the shutter release, just like me "gentle and predictable" 🙄
I take it that the genuine filters etc are all 32mm push on, the thread size would seem to be 30mm, but I have not seen anything listed as that?

discovered today when filters came, size is30.5 screw in!!! :bang:

SRB-Griturn the supplier, said to return and they will correct my cock-up!!!
An excellent firm BTW for adaptors of all types and filters in obscure sizes, also they have snap on lens caps which fit the VitoB 😀


The Saga continues. 30.5 filter arrives, does not fit either :bang: then this dumbkopf realizes that the front of the mount is NOT a thread just anti-reflection grooves. This camera ONLY takes 32mm push on filters. :bang: :bang: :bang:

I now have managed to get an as new hood (beautifuly made thing!) and a case. Using it with the Kontur finder, a brilliant thing!!see att 😀

I recently got a Vito IIa for use on backpacking trips...sadly it didn't come with a case though

Anyone got any ideas on where to get an original case for it? Have looked on ebay but it only seems to be able to get one if you buy a camera as well... 😕

give them a phone, they will probably be able to help you. I got a case for the Vito B from them, needed a little TLC but as we say it "scrubbed up well"
Enjoy your camera, these older German cameras take really good pictures. I also have a beautiful AKA Arette 1c, which lay unused for 50yrs from new, it has just had its first ever films through it!! See att.
Between films, exercise the shutter at all speeds to keep it in good shape, remembering that some of the Voigtlanders only cock the shutter with a film in them, so keep an old film just for that.
Try the phone call, I have to say they are less good at answering e-mails, so direct contact is better!! :angel:

thanks, I'll give them a go, the Vito is fantastic and I'd much rather carry it around in an original case rather than a modern CCS one or similar!

Late to this thread. I have had and used a Vito B with the Color-Skopar lens for several decades and LOVE it. I use it with a Voightlander rangefinder and it has a full case. After all these years and a lot of time out of the case while in use and whatever the finish on this thing is should be required on everything. It shows absolutely NO use, not a mark, no shading, wear or anything. It did finally have shutter freeze and have been weighing whether to have it cla'd since decent film in Canada is getting scarce, expensive and good developers and printing almost non-existent. The cleaning of the shutter will be much easier and should be less expensive than say on my Zeiss Ikonta 35mm folder where the shutter is between the lens elements.
