Vitomatic II shutter cleaning

I just got a beautiful Vitomatic IIcs from Germany, and I need to service its shutter as it sticks at slow speeds. I searched around but did not find anything on this camera, anybody knows how to access the shutter?

The only two ways I see are removing the black cosmetic ring on the front, or removing the focus ring. The second options makes more sense, as the whole of the fron assembly rotates to focus. Here is a pic

The focus ring can be removed by unscrewing the two small screws visible in the picture above.

Edit: I removed the two screws and the focus collar which is just a thin piece of metal. Underneath there are three more screws...

Edit, again: the three screws lock the focus ring in place, slackening them allows the focus ring to come off. The front element then unscrews. This is where I'm at

Now I'm just trying to decide which of the two retaining rings to attack first...

Well yes, the problem is getting in. 🙂 I'm starting to think I should go there from the back...

I'd stick to trying to get into the front for now (maybe the outer pair of slots?) and you should be able to get to the retaining-ring which holds the cam-ring on to the Prontor - the ring with the multiple indents in the first picture in Muggins' link.

The Vitomatic may not be the same, but on the Vito B to get into the back you lift the covering at the sides and remove 6 screws underneath to take off the whole shutter unit, but you only need to do this if you have to get at the shutter-blades, which shouldn't apply in your case.

You must take the entire shutter off. The rear of the shutter is where the most dust , dirt, and flakes collect over the years. You can not do this service from the font of the lens. The lens board must be removed from the body to start.
