Hi,
So I needed something for off camera flash and went with the Vivitar 283 instead of the 285 for it's smaller size. It was working perfectly with a PC cord for a week until the batteries died. I tossed in some fresh ones, and now it won't sync with the PC cord. However, the flash goes off any time the PC Cord socket on my M6 is ever so slightly touched. It syncs with the flash on hot shoe though. I tried the other type of cord that connects from the thyristor to the hot shoe, and that won't sync either. A friend has a Vivitar 285HV he'll sell me but that sounds like the problem is my PC cord? And I really like the more compact size of the 283. Please help me.

Do you have another flash with a pc cord you can try with the camera or can you borrow one? Vivitar pc cords are fairly common if that’s the problem.
