i understand Ultron 50 f/2 is supposed to be great wide open,
but the viewfinder of the Vitessa is sooo dim
i find it almost impossible to get pin sharp focusing even in a cloudy day or low-contrast light conditions, not to mention night photography.

how do you guys deal with that?
any special trick?

Could be a dirty viewfinder--mine isn't particularly bright, but is easily good enough for effortless accurate focussing. But I suspect it might be a difficult (i.e. professional) job to disassemble the top plate etc. to gain access.

An alternative might be to try hyperfocal/scale focussing--but you might find that too innacurate a compromise with the lens wide open.

Regards,
D.

cleaning the viewfinder might help
but yes it is beyond my ability to open the top.

but how about the eyepiece (the circular disk with glass)?
can it be screw out and do a bit cleaning?
because it is dusty too, cleaning it might help a bit.
