I just rediscovered a Voigtlander Vitessa that's been in the closet for about 30 years. It was bought in 1954 I believe. This has the f/2 lens with lens that pops out from behind two doors. It has a rangefinder and meter. It now seems to have some problems. The shutter sometimes works but sometimes does not. Sometimes when I push the advance plunger the aperture blades open and very very slowly close. Do I need to lubricate something? Where/how/with what? Problem 2 is that I don't see the split image in the viewfinder. Is that something that I could fix. Any helpful replies would be appreciated. I recall enjoying this camera and I'd like to see if can easily be put in working order.

It's quite a complex camera and unless you are fairly skilled I'd suggest you find someone to service it thoroughly. It sounds like the "L" model, which I have. Luckily the former Service Manager for Voigtlander (and Zeiss) is retired not far from where i live and still does repairs and CLA's on Voigtlanders. I'm in Australia, which probably doesn't help you!

You should get it serviced by Wolf Umbach (ZV Service). I had a plunger problem with my Vitessa N and got it back within two weeks. CLA'd and repaired for under $135. Of course he'll send you a quote before he starts any work though.

Thanks for your reply. A bit sadly, I decided to sell my Vitessa on ebay. Also, I've listed on ebay a Voigtlander 125/20 lens shade on ebay ...last day of sale is June 16, in case anyone is interested in the lens shade.
