Found this in a friends house, belonged to his grandfather. As far as I can ascertain, it doesn't have a RF system, though it does have an old meter system built in. Any info on age, specs etc.?

Hey Mudman,
Try this link:
http://www.marriottworld.com/vito_cameras/matics.htm
also Karen Nakamura's web site: "Photoethnography" has some Voigtlander info.
I have a voigtlander Vitomatic II which has the coupled rangefinder and the meter. The Vitomatic I is the same except it has no rangefinder. My Vitomatic has the 2.8 50mm Color-Skopar lens, a four element lens that is noted for it's color rendition and is also quite sharp. I like my Vitomatic II very much, it is a lot of fun to shoot with, build quality is excellent and my meter is quite accurate too. Great little cameras. Marriot's site indicates the Vitomatics began production in 1958.

If you can read some german (or at least pretend you can
http://home.wtnet.de/~ddrescher/voigtlaender/index.htm
I do have a Vito BL and a Vitomatic IIa. The BL is scale focus, the IIa a rangefinder. Both have superbe build quality and both are a real joy to use. The Color Skopar lens does not outperform a leica but is pretty good for a 50s/60s lens and gives very pleasing warm color rendition, at least for my taste.
Go give it a try. I have great fun with my "Vito"s.

Check in Retrography. Its a site owned by Simon Simonsen from Denmark who collects Voigtländer cameras and has very good info and pictures of his cameras.
I have a Vitomatic IIb (with a dead meter under repair now). All Vitomatics have more or less the same body size but different features like exp.meter but no RF, both and shutter speeds up to 1/300, again both and speeds up to 1/500. The Color Skopar either 50/3.5 or 2.8 are excellent lenses at a bargain price The only you need is to get used to shoot with small heavy camera with a 1:1 VF.
Cheers

I have a Vitomatic 1 with instructions in English. If there is anything specific, I can try scanning the (smelly) little booklet if it helps. Haven't done much scanning before so I might need some help. Ming
