The Balda Baldix and now Voigtländer Perkeo have really gotten me going. I saw a Mamiya 6 bundle (body and all three lenses) and was about to punch the button but then realized ... I don't want another "system" setup, that's what the Leica is for. No, I want a modern version of the Perkeo folder. The Bessa III seems the ticket.

I have the Perkeo, Bessa II and GF670 (Bessa iii). I use the Bessa IIi in 6x6 mode..but never considered it a modern version of the Perkeo. It would be the modern version of a Bessa rf
...That being said, gf670 is a great camera...

I have the Fuji GF670 and it is superb. Especially for travel because it is so easy to slide in a bag, loads really easy, great meter and Fujinon lens is a darling.

I have recently started using the Fuji GF670. It is a huge improvement over the old classic folders. It has a brilliant viewfinder and a nice accurate meter - makes for an enjoyable experience. ---john.

I'm hard pressed these days to get too hot and bothered by MF system cameras. 35mm cameras (RF and SLR) do that very well.
If I were hunting for a MF Folder it would be the new Bessa hands down. Fuji made a 6x4.5 folder some years back that I lusted for. Never got one new and should have as used there are several easy to mess up issues that make them problematic. My read is they were not designed to make money but from a niche-passion perspective that makes me think a lot of care went into them.
If you need to do it, do it right the first time. My acceptence level for cameras that do not work flew out the window some 10 years ago.

Just to update this thread:
I decided to go for a Bessa III, looked at some used ones offered, and decided in the end to buy a new one. It arrived last Friday. No chance to go shooting with it until Sunday, when I shot a roll and a half of Neopan ACROS 100. The first roll was processed Sunday and looks great.
To put it succinctly, this camera meets what I was looking for and then some.
Big thumbs up. I expect to be using it until 120 film disappears from the world, or I do, whichever comes first.

Yes, it's been an overly self-indulgent and expensive year. Never mind acquiring the M9, Nokton 50 and X2 as well. This will not continue, believe me. A few other goals need to be addressed now.
Have some printing to do this evening. Some posting later on perhaps too.

Are you using the thing in Aperture Priority mode?? I'm quite intrigued by these two new Fuji/Bessas for that reason most of all. To be able to yank a camera out of the pocket and shoot without fiddling about AND end up with a 6x6 neg seems fantastic! Are these the first 6x6 cameras with AP??
