Question for you all - just bought a Voigtlander 15mm LTM and attempting to use it on my M5. The only m39-m adapter that gets close to fitting it is my 28-90. Unfortunately it doesn’t screw all the way in.
Does anyone have any experience with these, will this affect the end result much? If so what is a better alternative for this?

Strange - I have had no problem at all with the Voigtlander made L39 to M adapter I bought, sits centrally and no bit jutting out like that. I'll have a look when I return home tomorrow afternoon.

Well, this is a 3rd party L39 to M adapter. I've never had an issue with any of them.

Voigtlander doesn't sell the adapters anymore, unfortunately. Hope to find another solution. I have a test roll in now. Will see the results later this week.

Does it thread onto the adapter off of the camera? Try that just to rule out the possibility of threads on the lens or adapter being boogered up.

I ponied up and bought a Leica one when I had M5. Worked great with the 15 and it was great to have metering through that lens.

You won't experience any problems. Mine looks the same with an original voigtländer adapter. There was a tutorial somewhere on the net on how to adjust the lens but it is not necessary.

which one did you buy? the 28/90?

Honestly it was a long time ago. I had all of them at the time. Perhaps somebody that has gone the same route as I can better answer that.

It's not coupling to the rangefinder, so would any of them work as well???

C'mon Yall! 🙂

Do you mean that doesn't align properly, the top of the lens doesn't point to the top of the camera? That's normal and inconsequential, as long as the adapter is screwed all the way on.

It doesn't line up at 12:00 that's normal. Is that you issue?
Shoot some test film and make sure it's OK before proceeding any further.

The center is off slightly, but the lens will still work properly; this particular lens does not couple to the RF. Regardless, zone focusing works just fine on a lens this wise (even wide-open).

From my experience, you need a 50mm ltm->m adapter for this lens. Another adapter will not align the hood at center position, that will cost some blockage from the hood.

The "focal length" of the adapter doesn't matter, QC does. Leica adapters are best, Voigtlander are excellent, cheap ones have less than stellar QC which can leave coarse threads and a variable entrance point for the thread.

Neither newer version of the CV15mm are anything like as small. I think i'm correct in saying Version II optics are the same as the first version.

Not as small. This said, I amend my post and will attest that the CV 15mm III is way superior to it's predecessors. I use it a lot, paired with the CV 15-35 Zoom Finder and it's a great package, on my Epson R-D1's and Leica's.

I don't see how that is possible. If the lens won't seat fully, the distance to the film plane has got to be wrong.
