I didn't want to hijack the other similar thread so thought I would start a new one as it sparked my interest.

How is the performance of the WATE at 21 compared with the Voigtlander 21?

Amateur photograher did a comparison of the original Voigtlander 21 and the Leica 21 ASPH. in optical scores the Voigtlander got a 28/30 and the Leica 29/30, pretty close indeed. With multi focal designs a compromise is generally a factor does that suggest the Voigtlander may well be a match for the WATE at 21mm? Tom A has mentioned the distortion of the Voigtlander lower than that of the ASPH 2.8. Thats pretty impressive!

Also build quality of the original Voiglander was 18/20 and the Leica 19/20. The new P 21 is a definite improvement in build quality so again it may be up there?

(Henning feel free to step in here you seem to have tried them all! LOL)

Friendly discussions please.

Both threads seem to be going a bit slow so you should have just tacked them together.

I remember seeing that review too. It seems logical that if the CV 21 is only one point below the 21mm ASPH f2.8 that it should be equal if not slightly better than a multi focal lens. The original Tri-Elmar was let down at the 28mm focal length (it was still good but that length was its weak point). There doesn't seem to be many WATE users just yet to tell.
