I just got my new Voigtlander 25mm f/4 from Cameraquest.
Looking at one of the photos at the Cameraquest site for this particular lens it shows that the small hood is removable. Also in the manual that comes with the lens is written that the hood is removable. Now I tried to unscrew the hood but it's just not moving at all. It appears that it's part of the lens body.

Can someone who has this lens tell if he successfully managed to unscrew the hood?

Thanks in advance.

Try unscrewing it with the cap still on. It seems strange, but I have the earlier version of this lens and it really works!

I have the classic version of this lens, and I find the hood is sometimes a little sticky on the threads, but nothing I couldn't manage. Try putting a couple elastic bands around the hood (just a few, enough to offer you some grip) and see if that helps get it off.

OK it just worked. Even if I put all my strenght (I thought I'm gonna brake the lens) to rotate the hood it didn't move. What helped is that I slightly squeezed the hood while uncrewing and it moved easily.

Thanks all for your response.

Cheers,

When you grip the hood tightly, it deforms making it difficult to remove. You can use a silicone pot-holder, trivet, or lid-remover. Place it flat on the table, place the lens so that the circular opening of the hood is face down. Twist. Voila.

Removing the Skopar hood is like removing some filters: grip it lightly at one single point on its rim and it will turn easily. Just got one. Insanely compact. Hanging it on the M5 is weird - almost like no lens at all.
