I bought myself a 28/35 mini finder in used but good condition at Christmas. It even has the rubber ring at the back! I love the size and the clarity of the view enough that I can tolerate the awkwardness of using it with glasses.

But I dropped it. :bang:

Not far, you understand - maybe 3 1/2 ft onto a laminate floor in my house - but now the framelines are noticeably decentered. They're off towards the right as you look through the viewfinder, and it's enough of a problem to throw composition off a fair bit.

Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this? Or even if it IS fixable? I'm currently unemployed so DIY options are preferable, and I'm not averse to getting the jeweller's screwdrivers out, but I can't see an obvious way to get into the damn thing!

I love my mini-finder. I have long lost the rubber ring. Problem with mine, occasionally the front element works its way forward, jutting out over the edge of the finder body. I use a soft cloth and push it back in. Similarly, you might try taking a soft cloth, holding both the rear and front elements between your fingers and squeeze them together gently and see if the elements will center themselves.

There's not much inside these finders. I believe only two lens elements.

The mask is a simple metal frame, friction fit into place.
I've adjusted one in the standard finder, not the mini. It had two screws & the shoe to take it apart.

Re: the slipping front element, Leica glues theirs in place. If you're careful a drop of clear nail polish applied with a straight pin or toothpick will work.

I pushed the lens elements together/in and the problem didn't correct, so I assume I need to remove the elements and reposition the frame. Problem is I've got no bloody clue how to do it. There's no screws ANYWHERE. I can't even really see a join. It's like the damn thing is hermetically sealed!
