If there is a 50mm f1.4 that is a Sonnar Scheme I think that would be quite interesting. Another Nokton with the same signature as the f1.1 less so. I don't see the cv sonnar 50mm happening but you never know right?
Completely OT. Why never a Biogon formula 50mm? Would a biogon design 50mm be SO large? I love the Biogon sig. Would love to have it in a 50mm for the M8 and occasional film.

I gave up on VC when the last sheet in the box was used.
I occasionally consider CV lenses, Cosina Voitlander that is.

I wonder how BIG a 35/1,1 RF lens would be?
Hopefully not much bigger than the 1.2

I would look forward to a Sonnar-esque 50/1.4 too, especially if it can replicate that 3D pop that's so Zeiss.

The Biogon is a wide angle design, so a 50mm biogon would cover medium format. Kinda overkill for 24x36mm. The 53mm Biogon was made for 6x9cm film.
I doubt that Cosina will come out with a 50/1.4 Sonnar formula lens with the Zeiss Sonnar 50/1.5.
Now- a Planar formula Aspherical 50/1.4, that would be nice. Fills the gap left by the discontinuation of the 50/1.5 Nokton.

That's really me
Makes sense to come out with something to replace the Nokton 50/1.5. I wonder why something hasn't come out sooner, there was the 40/1.4 and the 50/1.1 but it just wasn't a 50/1.5
Unless Cosina comes out with something wacky like a 50/1.5 Dual Range Heliar.

I could imagine Cosina doing something like that! One with a "real" 5/3 Heliar as a basis, like the new 75/1.8, maybe an added element on either side of the central negative and/or with aspheric surfaces to manage corrections with such speed... And the symmetry would lend itself well to a Dual Range... Wild and wacky!...Unless Cosina comes out with something wacky like a 50/1.5 Dual Range Heliar.

It will take a lot, an awful lot, to improve on my CV 35/1.2 & 50/1.5. A slight bump from 1.2 to 1.1 and/or 1.5 to 1.4 won't get my attention. And my 50/1.5 already focusses to 0.7m, so that isn't an issue either.
I'd rather see a CV DRF.![]()
My thoughts too - I'd like to see a good DRF and a fast 21/1.4 or so. My Nokton 50/1.5 and 35/1.2 (as well as other CV lenses) serve me just fine as they are - I dont need anything "updated".
CV would get my attention, and my dollars, if they came out with a 28/1.4 with a size and more importantly, a signature, comparable to the Nokton 35/1.2. I think this would be a hit among those of us still using the M8 / M8.2.
Keep dreaming sir...
