I just picked one up used on saturday.

Since I love my summicron 50, but find the FOV of 66mm equivelent on the M8 too long, I borrowed an old screw mount Jupiter-12 35 f2.8 LTM to regain the 50 FOV.

Coming from that lens the nokton is excellent. Sure it is a bit soft wide open, but stopped down to the Jupiter-12s f2.8 it is already nicely sharp. I love the compact size, and the location and feel of the aperture and focus tabs. Great lens.

As others have commented, the size and ergonomics of this lens are superb. Although I have other 35's, I keep this one on the camera most of the time. I like the classic look, especially on B&W.

Wow. The first shot grabs you with the sharpness, the second....WHERE IS THIS BAT SIGN? Its cool!
The third, are those original inks from a comic? That gentleman looks familiar, like an writer for Marvel/DC maybe?

Is the sample variation affecting quality in general (sharpness for instance) or just rangefinder focus adjustment?

I'm thinking about this lens for my X-E1 (or the Skopar 35/2.5) and there rangefinder focus accuracy is of no importance I guess...

I see great examples of this lens on the X-E1 (good sharpness and even a bit 3D) but worry about sample variation, since I would get one second hand only...


BTOH I wonder about how it compares in terms of sharpness to the skopar 35/2.5, both at f2.8 or 2.5

Yep, that's Bob Hall and his original inks and pencils! Worked for both Marvel and DC!

As a matter of interest, how are you getting on with it?

I love my nokton. I originally got it because it was relatively cheap and planned to sell it once I had the money for a summicron.
I now have the money for a summicron, but I've fallen completely in love with this lens.

These are on M9, but it's worth noting this is one of the very few really small 35s that works OK with the stock sony A7 cameras.

I Agree that 35 nokton is Special... Tom A here on Rff turned me unto the 1.4 nokton and I luv it
I bounce between it and the 35 3.5 Summaron
i'm on a 35 extravaganza... now and for a long time to come 35's Rule 😉 ... my 50mm is taking a break

I tried out over thirty 35mm lenses in a side by side "test" of RF lenses, but I could not single out only one 35mm lens as being special and somehow the best. Several lenses did very well in my hands. I ended up buying a Biogon 35/2 and a pre-asph Summilux and a Canon 35/2 in addition to already having a Summicron.
